JAMMU, Mar 28: Launching a blistering and ferocious attack against the BJP-PDP coalition Government for snatching the prestigious AIIMS worth Rs 1600 crores from Jammu and surrendering it to Kashmir, Panthers Party today staged a one day vociferous protest dharna here in front of Press Club.
The protest was spearheaded by Harshdev Singh, chairman JKNPP and former Minister, Balwant Singh Mankotia, State president JKNPP and Ex-MLA and Yashpal Kundal, State president, Young Panthers and Ex-MLA, along with battalion of leaders and activists.
While rebuking the ruling dispensation for clandestinely administering a severe discriminatory doze to Jammu region, Harshdev Singh admonished BJP for conceding AIIMS to Kashmir that was actually sanctioned for Jammu region just to appease its senior partner PDP at the cost of most coveted project and long cherished dream of the people of Jammu.
Harshdev said that AIIMS is a premier edifice for health and medical education renowned for its finest standards of health care services and advanced research infrastructure. “Arun Jaitley, Union Finance Minister in a budget session on Feb 28, 2015 in New Delhi explicitly announced an establishment of AIIMS in Jammu. The despicable surrender of prestigious AIIMS to Kashmir by the BJP being a partner in the ruling alliance has hit the soul of Jammu Pradesh”, he lamented.
He demanded immediate restoration of AIIMS to Jammu or else Panthers Party would launch and lead a colossal agitation to expose BJP and involve the people of Jammu to regain the premier health project at all costs.
Expressing strong disapproval and resentment over the issue, Balwant Singh Mankotia asserted that Jammu region needs an institute like AIIMS which could provide back up to the inadequate and deficient medical infrastructure in the region. He said that Kashmir has been bestowed with SKIMS, Soura which is a premier institute equivalent to AIIMS and the latter should be restored to Jammu without any delay.
While showing the anguish over the issue Yashpal Kundal said that by snatching a prestigious health project BJP has proved that it is a minnow in the ruling alliance and acting as a stooge in the hands of the PDP. He said that Panthers party would start its protests and demonstrations against the highly mischievous designs of the coalition Government and continue to fight until the AIIMS is restored to Jammu region.
