JKNPP, others accuse Govt of cheating over fuel prices

JAMMU, Feb 26: Panthers Party and other organizations have accused the Central Government of cheating people over fuel prices.
Strongly condemning the ruling dispensation for imposing huge taxation on goods and services of essential and day to day consumption particularly petrol, diesel and LPG, JKNPP Chairman and former Minister Harsh Dev Singh today said that the raging prices of such commodities had posed the severest threat to the very survival of the common man.
“The precipitous hike in prices of fuel followed by increased fares and corresponding carriage charges is resulting in escalation of prices of all other goods thereby causing innumerable hardships to the poor and marginalized sections of society,” he said while addressing a press conference, here today.
Pointing towards the tax terrorism of BJP regime, Singh said that while crude oil cost in the global market was Rs 28 per liter, the consumers are being charged over Rs 90 liter for petrol and over Rs 80 per liter for diesel. He said that such enhanced prices of fuel in India was the cumulative effect of huge taxation in the form of excise duty, road cess, Agri cess and VAT imposed by the BJP led Govt at the Centre together with huge margins of oil companies.
The activists of Shiv Sena Bal Thackeray protested against the skyhigh prices of petrol, diesel and LPG. The protesting Shiv Sainiks also set their two-wheeler on fire and raised slogans against Central Government for sky rocketing fuel prices.
The protesting Shiv Sena workers were, led by their President UT. J&K, Manish Sahni, who also addressed the gathering. People are facing hardship but the BJP-led Government is busy in election campaigns,” he said and threatened to intensify agitation if the problems of people are not solved at the earliest.
Sunil Dimple, president Mission Statehood, J&K and Jammu West Assembly Movement, led a protest march against unprecedented hike in fuel prices.
Addressing the protest rally, Sunil Dimple demands resignation of BJP Govt at centre because of its failure on all fronts. He said this hike in the LPG, diesel petrol price is a bombshell on the people of the country.
