JKNTUF for hike in honorarium of Anganwari workers, helpers

JAMMU, Apr 26: J&K National Trade Union Front (JKNTUF) today stressed upon the Government to enhance the honorarium of Anganwari workers and helpers.
Addressing a press conference here today, Mohammad Gafoor Dar, State president, JKNTUF, said that Anganwari workers and helpers are performing multiple works like doing surveys, making preparation of list of beneficiaries from 0 to 6 years children and lactating as well as pregnant women, immunization, referral services, etc but in turn a meager amount of Rs 3600 and Rs 1800 per month is being paid to Anganwari workers and helpers, respectively.
He said that Anganwadi workers are demanding salary hike from the Government since 2004 but nobody listened to them and they are being exploited continuously for meager payment by the Government. He urged the Government to enhance their honorarium without any delay.
The JKNTUF president also stressed for releasing of pending wages of casual labourers of PDD and PHE department, who are on agitation since long.
Akhil Sharma, vice president, JKNTUF and Piran Ditta, district president, Jammu, were also present in the conference.
