JKP continuously providing relief materials to flood victims

JAMMU, Sept 15: Apart from Central Forces engaged in the ongoing rescue operation in flood hit areas of Jammu region, the police personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) are also continuously providing relief materials to the flood affected people.
Various police teams were constituted and deputed to various flood affected areas including Pargwal, Phallan Mandal, Nagrota, Ramgarh and Parmandal areas from District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu and Samba along with tents and ration for distribution among the flood affected people.
DIG Jammu Shakeel Ahmed and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand alongwith SP City South Jammu Rahul Malik and SP Headquarters Randhir Singh constituted these police teams, which will work under the supervision of concerned SHOs and SDPOs.
Medical teams from Police Hospital Jammu were also constituted and deputed for the treatment of flood affected victims in Pargwal and Phallan Mandal area.
So far 82 tons of ration containing dry and cooked food have been distributed to the flood affected victims since September 8 onward. Rescue and rehabilitation programme is still going on.
Meanwhile, Nagrota police with the collaboration of District Civil/ Police Administration assisted by some local volunteers arranged special langars at Sidhra and Nagrota in which food and drinking water are provided to all the stranded truck drivers besides medical facilities also.
SDPO Akhnoor visited far flung flood affected areas of Hamirpur Kona, Pargwal Sub-Division Akhnoor and distributed relief material to needy persons.
Four relief camps have been organized in district Ramban by district Police Ramban. A community kitchen has been established at Bus Stand Ramban, where yatries are getting food.
Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, DIG, DKR Range, chaired a high level emergency meeting on relief operations in DPO Ramban, and asked the participants to provide basic necessities like food, water and transportation to people severely affected by the calamity. Javed Iqbal Matoo, SSP Ramban, Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP Traffic NHW Ramban, Arun Gupta, Additional SP, Ramban, Amit Bhasin and Vinay Kumar, Deputy Commandants IRP 9th Bn also attended the meeting alongwith other senior officers of District and Para Military forces.
On the direction of higher authorities, DySP RS Pura Devinder Singh along with SHO Miran Sahib Sanjeev Chib and SHO RS Pura Deepak Jasrotia distributed eatables and tents (tarpals) among flood affected people of RS Pura, Miran Sahib and Arnia.
