JKP encouraging budding artists: DGP

JAMMU, Nov 29: Emphasizing upon the youth and art lovers of the State to avail the opportunity provided by JKP to showcase their skills in the field of art, the Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad has said that the organization has been conducting various activities under prestigious “Civic Action Programme” to explore the hidden talent of the youth of the State.
Mr Prasad was speaking at the concluding function of 8-day National Level Art Camp, organized by J&K Police Housing Corporation at Gulshan Ground here this evening. He said that such events are conducted with the aim to provide a platform to the reputed artists to share their experience with the budding artists of the State and hone their talent. As many as 11 artists with national fame including one from Russia participated in the camp, besides local artists.
Those who participated in the camp included Bishamber Mehta, Devi Das Khatri, Gagan Vij, Sukhjeet Singh Kukkal, Jagpal Singh, Smt. Anjali Aggarwal, Richa Mahajan, Arti Fulari, Poonam C Tiyagi and Daris Raldugina from Russia.
Mr Prasad said that such camps opens new vistas of opportunities for the youth and art lovers which helps them fulfilling their dreams in the field. The Organization has been focusing on providing broader platform to the budding artists of the State to encourage them in this field, said Prasad.
The DGP said that art provides an opportunity to share experience with each other and to know about the culture, languages of different regions of the country. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police Organization, besides its professional duties has been carrying out different cultural, social and sports activities to promote police public relations which are mandatory in the contemporary times. He said that paintings made by the artists during the 8-day camp would serve sweet memories for the department in future and these would be displayed on different events by the Organization.
On the occasion, artists and Coordinator of the Camp, K. K. Gandhi hailed the efforts of JKP for undertaking various civil and other welfare activities in the State. They said that the camp organized by PHC has been inspiring to the budding artists of the State towards the painting art.

Among others, the functions was attended by ADGPs, SP Vaid, Navin Aggerwal and SM Sahai, IGPs, AK Choudhary, SJM Geelani, Dr. KK Saini, Alok Puri, SS Khandre and Rajesh Kumar, DIGPs, AS Bali, AK Atri and Johny William, SE (PHC), Sudhir Kumar Shah, SSPs, Nissr Ahmed and Vijay Kumar, XEn: (PHC), Bashir Ahmed Rather, lady members of PWWA and members of civil society.
