JKP on fore front of tackling terrorism: DGP

SRINAGAR, Oct 18: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said that J&K Police has been on fore front of tackling the Pak sponsored terrorism, radicalisation and law and order situations along with all other security forces working in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police is doing multifarious tasks which include police arrangements, investigations and providing various services to general people, DGP added.
“Besides fight against terrorism, police personnel are doing their other specialized work which includes check and handling on social crimes, terror funding, OGW networks of terrorist and separatists”, he informed.
DGP was speaking during interaction with a group of about fifty IPS officers of RR 71st batch from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy Hyderabad. Other senior police and CRPF officers were also present during the meeting.
The probationary officers were given know-how about the functioning of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
During the interaction the DGP said that J&K Police is doing multifarious duties and is countering terrorism at different fronts and large number of terrorists has been eliminated and huge quantity of arms/ammunition has been seized in last three decades by police and security forces. In addition to the fight against terrorism the force has been very effective in dealing with unlawful activities, DGP stated.
IGP CRPF (Admn) Kashmir Ravideep Sahi, DIG CKR VK Birdhi, DIGs of CRPF Shalinder and DS Mann, SSP Srinagar Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP PCR Shahid Mehraj, SO to IGP Kashmir Suhail Munawar Mir, SSP HQ Srinagar Mohammad Majid, Zonal SPs of Srinagar District, Commandants of CRPF Battalions and other jurisdictional gazette officers were also present in the interactive session.
Couple of days back, ADGP Armed J&K SJM Gillani addressed an interactive session with the visiting officers. He gave a detailed presentation on the organizational structure of J&K Police and its functioning.
While briefing the IPS probationers about the command structure and functioning of J&K Police, the ADGP threw light on the significant issues relating to command and control of the organization, performance of Law & Order duties and tackling the three decade long militancy in J&K. ADGP also highlighted the valour of J&K Police displayed in maintenance of peace and order in J&K during the peak of the militancy. The sacrifices given by the JKP personnel for safeguarding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country besides safeguarding the life and property of the people was also showcased by the ADGP Armed.
Further, the ADGP also gave brief account of the various welfare schemes adopted by J&K Police organization for the wellbeing of the serving and retired police personnel and NoKs of the police martyrs and deceased police personnel, and also public friendly activities carried out by J&K Police for bridging the police public gap under its Civic Action Programmes.
