JKPCC contractors demand release of pending payments

JAMMU, Dec 9: JKPCC Piece Workers & Contractors Association, Jammu has urged the higher authorities in the Corporation to clear old liabilities of the contractors.
A delegation of the Association led by its president, Rakesh Jalali met the Managing Director of the JKPCC Ltd, Vikas Kundal here today and invited his attention towards the issues of the contractors with regard to pending payments, even for the last 5-6 years.
The members pointed out that during previous meeting on November 9, they were assured that their payments will be released within days but till today, no progress has been observed in this regard. They sought development towards release of their payments. They pointed out that many contractors were facing hardships. Due to Corona, they have already suffered badly and now due to non-release of their pending wages. They said many of them had borrowed loans from the banks for executing works and now they are unable to return the loan amount with interest.
The MD assured the members to take up the issue with the concerned higher authorities for ensuring early release of funds for clearing pending payments. General secretary Sunil Kumar and other office bearers also accompanied the delegation.
