JAMMU, Oct 26: Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has demanded a time bound high level probe to book the culprits involved in the Reliance General Group Insurance scam in the State, besides immediate arrest of those guilty involved in another big deal of Rs 100 crore in the construction of a dam, as stated by the Governor.
Welcoming the move of the Governor SP Malik to immediately cancel the two contracts in view of the gross corruption and huge scams involved, JKPCC chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma said since the Governor has himself confirmed that huge corruption is involved in these two matters, it calls for immediate action against all those beneficiaries involved and culprits can’t go scot free.
He said that Governor has vindicated the Congress charge led by Rahul Gandhi that undue favours have been extended to the Anil Ambani’s Reliance Group. By flouting all norms, as in this case gross violations of rules and blatant misuse of powers has been done. It calls for immediate registration of case and high level independent probe to book the culprits.
“Similarly in other matter too, as stated by Governor, a huge deal was struck involving 100 crores in the project for a dam. The culprits should be immediately exposed and booked under law”, the Congress chief spokesperson said.
Sharma also sought the attention of the Governor towards the need to fully empower the State Accountability Commission in order to deliver to the objectives for its establishment. He regretted that State Government has itself weakened the institution of SAC from time to time. “It is high time not only to restore the desired powers but to further empower the Commission to take on menace of corruption in the State, especially at the higher levels”, he added.
