JAMMU, Feb 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has expressed serious concern over the incidents of violence in Delhi and alleged that Govt has failed to protect the life and property of people.
A meeting of senior functionaries of JKPCC was held here today under the chairmanship of its president G A Mir to discuss the current scenario in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country. The members expressed grave shock over the loss of several precious lives and injuries to several persons in the national capital Delhi and termed it as a matter of grave concern.
The meeting expressed strong anger and anguish over the violent incidents in the national capital under the nose of the Centre and State Govts which is a matter of serious concern and national shame. It said that Govt has failed to protect the life and property of the people. The meeting appealed to the people to maintain peace and religious harmony at all costs and defeat the nefarious designs of communal and divisive forces in the country.
The JKPCC took stock of the current political and security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. It viewed that the present dispensation has failed to respond positively to the demands of the various sections and resolve the problems of the common people. The different sections of the people especially the youth are agitating for their respective demands, which are quite justified. They are seeking fulfillment of the commitments made to these sections from time to time by the Govt and especially the BJP.
The youth feel cheated and betrayed by the BJP, which is at the helm of affairs. The BJP Govt. has arbitrarily withdrawn the 5 years concessions to the youth of J&K in civil services besides abolishing J&K cadre. The issue of SRO 202 is quite justified demand and needs to be resolved immediately. The party has taken strong exception to the failure of the present Govt. at the Centre and UT administration to respond positively and favourably to the different suffering sections of Jammu and Kashmir including the different categories employees especially those on temporary, adhoc, contractual and daily wage basis. Their demands need to be addressed favourably in view of the overall scenario in J&K.
The meeting also noticed the dual standards and false commitments of BJP regarding the imposition of taxes on the transporters under MVA and the toll plazas, least caring for the great economic distress in the country. The unprecedented price hike of all essential commodities has put heavy burden on common and made their lives difficult, while Govt. is continuing imposing heavy taxes and duties on the people.
It alleged that Centre Govt and UT administration, are not taking any positive steps to facilitate a conducive political atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir. The positive initiatives from the Govt in the prevailing atmosphere are totally missing and the hostile attitude and mistrust will not help create a conducive atmosphere for any meaningful and credible political activity in the present scenario.
The meeting was attended by several prominent leaders including Raman Bhalla, Haji Rasheed, GN Monga, Ravinder Sharma, Rajnish Sharma, Manmohan Singh, Shah Nawaz Choudhary, SS Channi, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Anayat Ullah Rathar, Zahid Hussain Jan and Raqeeq Ahmed Khan from NSUI.
