JAMMU, July 11: Expressing serious concern over the current instability and innocent killings, Congress today offered heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their dear one during the protests erupted in Valley.
The Party has appealed the people, especially youth to shun violence and maintain calm, as the violence won’t serve any purpose rather, it will have serious implications on the safety of people, besides damaging the atmosphere of peace. Urging Party cadres to provide every help to injured persons, Congress asked the party-men to visit injured people in hospitals and donate blood in order to ensure their proper treatment, besides providing them every help they require at this critical juncture.
The Party, in an urgent meeting held in Srinagar, which was presided over by JKPCC Chief G A Mir and attended by senior party functionaries and Legislators, blamed the Coalition Government of mishandling the situation resulting in killing of dozens of innocent youth and injuring more than 200 people, besides causing severe damages to the properties.
Earlier, AICC president Sonia Gandhi talked to G A Mir on phone and expressed her serious concern over the killings and damages caused to property. Terming the loss of precious lives as very unfortunate Congress president sympathized with bereaved families.
Condemning the use of force that lead to the ugliest situation in South Kashmir and elsewhere, the Party opined that losses could have been avoided had the State Government taken immediate measure to control the mobs. The State Government should have taken the timely measures to avoid innocent causalities but that did not happen, the Congress Party said and sought clarity from the Government as to why it could not control the outburst.
Urging the Govt to provide every assistance to Tourists stranded at many places, the party demanded that State Government must ensure safety of Tourists and minorities in the Valley and make them feel comfortable.
Those who attended the meeting, included Peerzada Mohd Syed, Taj Mohi-ud-Din, MLC Ghulam Nabi Monga, MLA Haji Ab Rashid Dar, MLA Mohd Amin Bhat, Farooq Andrabi, MLA Usman Majeed, Shoiab Nabi Lone, Surinder Singh Channi, Nazir Ahmad Khan, Raman Mattoo, G N Mir Lasjan, Irfan Naqib and other party functionaries.
