JKPCC Minority Deptt raises demands

JAMMU, Nov 5: A meeting of Minority Department of JKPCC was held here today which was presided over by vice chairman of the Minority Department, S. Gurdarshan Singh.
The meeting was attended by Michael Wazir, Jagjit Singh, Tariq Choudhary, Baldev Singh Wazir, Rajinder Singh Nathu, Nassir Masih, Ravinder Singh, Swarn Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Pinki Sudan, Joginder Kour, Gurmeet Kour, Manjit Kour, David Sandhu, Balvinder Singh, Manprit Singh, Roshan Din and others.
Addressing the meeting Gurdarshan Singh demanded appointment of ‘Centre Minority Commission Coordinator’ in J&K for the holistic development of minority communities here.
He also demanded installation of statue of Baba Bandha Singh Bahadur and announcement of Punjabi language as one of the official languages of J&K and expressed resentment against the government for not paying any heed towards these demands.
Michael Wazir, State coordinator said that Congress has never appeased any particular community but has only ensured social justice by giving equal opportunities to all the communities without any discrimination.
S. Jagjeet Singh demanded reservation of four Assembly seats for Sikhs, two for Christians and two for Dogra Muslims.
S. Baldev Singh Wazir demanded Punjabi language in all J&K Schools.
