SRINAGAR, Dec 2: On the directions issued by the Regional Director of JKPCC, Kashmir, Abhijeet Joshi, National Pollution Control Day was observed across all districts of PCC, Kashmir.
The major event was held at the JKPCC headquarters in Srinagar, starting with a plantation drive followed by a seminar in the Conference Hall.
The event, observed annually on December 2, commemorates the lives lost in the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, the world’s largest industrial disaster, caused by the release of methyl isocyanate gas.
In his welcome address, the Regional Director of JKPCC, Kashmir, highlighted the importance of the day and the role of PCC in enforcing long-term environmental strategies to control emissions from industries and other sources.
He urged brick kiln and stone crusher owners to adopt eco-friendly technologies for sustainable development.
The event also featured a screening of a documentary about the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, followed by two minutes of silence in remembrance of the victims.
Environmentalists and activists were also felicitated for their efforts in reducing pollution and promoting environmental sustainability.
