JKPCC’s disciplinary panel discusses Monga, Anwar Bhat, other cases

JAMMU, Oct 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee’s Disciplinary Action Committee held a crucial meeting today on issues related to indiscipline created by some members of the party during recently held Assembly elections and after it, causing damage to the prospects of the party in Jammu and Kashmir.
Chaired by former Minister and senior JKPCC leader, Mula Ram, the meeting of the Disciplinary Action Committee focused on the party’s internal challenges, issues of indiscipline created by senior leaders Ghulam Nabi Monga, Mohd Anwar Bhat and others who contested as rebels during recently held elections and the impact of their actions on the electoral prospects.
“We discussed the general issues related to impact on the performance of the party due to the actions of the some members including the complaints against Ghulam Nabi Monga and Mohd Anwar Bhat. We are collecting evidences/ proofs against the members against whom we have received complaints. It is lengthy exercise and it will take sometime to reach up to the conclusion,” Chairman of the Committee Mula Ram said.
“We are committed to address the issues in a constructive manner,” he said and emphasized the need for a “unified approach” to strengthen party cohesion.
Members engaged in an in-depth discussion on the factors contributing to indiscipline, stressing the importance of party members adhering to core values, he said.
The meeting is the first of several planned discussions aimed at formulating recommendations to resolve challenges being faced by the party in J&K.
“A follow-up meeting will take place tomorrow for further deliberations. After these discussions, the committee will prepare a comprehensive report to be presented to the party president,” Party chairman said.
He, however, did not share the general proceedings of the meeting or mentioned specifically about the nature of allegations against particular member, but maintained that Committee will submit the report to the JKPCC president, who may finally forward the same to the party high command for an action.
“The unity and discipline of our party are of utmost importance as we move forward,” said another committee member.
“This process will help us stay aligned with our goals and better face the challenges ahead.”
A detailed report on “indiscipline” and recent electoral outcomes would be prepared and submitted to the Congress president, he said.
The JKPCC Disciplinary Committee remains steadfast in its commitment discipline and unity within the party, recognizing that these elements are crucial as the party navigates current challenges and prepares for future endeavours, he added.
The other members present in the meeting included Thakur Balbir Singh, Surinder Singh Channi, Shahnawaz Choudhary, Fiyaz Ahmed Mir, Dr Audil Farooq Mir Lasjan while former MP Trilok Singh Bajwa joined the meeting virtually.
