SRINAGAR, June 20: A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Forum (JKPF), led by its Chairman Syed Nassar Ullah Shah, called on N.N. Vohra, Governor, here at Raj Bhavan today.
The delegation highlighted various demands of pubic importance which included re-establishment of Disability Information Centre at Bemina in Srinagar, rehabilitation of orphans in the Valley, enhancement of quota of the State under various scholarships awarded every year by the Government of India.
They also requested for implementation of “Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act-2007”, enhancement of pensionary and other benefits to senior citizens, protection of fragile ecosystem of Kashmir, strict enforcement to check availability of spurious drugs in the market and proper health care of new born children in the State.
The Governor assured the delegation to take up the highlighted issues with the concerned departments of the State Government.
The delegation comprised M. M. Shuja, General Secretary, JKPF; Raja Amin, Vice Chairman, JKPF; Shabir Ahmad, Secretary, JKPF; Mohd Ramzan Khan and Mohd. Shafi Rangraze.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Kashmir Traders and Manufactures Federation (KTMF) also called on Mr. Vohra and apprised him about the key problems, which the trading and manufacturing communities in the Valley are facing, such as difficulty in getting soft loans to entrepreneurs, levying of interests and penalties on electricity dues of business establishments and non-rehabilitation of traders whose shops have come under road widening projects. They also put forth other issues relating to illegal encroachments of road sides and footpaths, levying of heavy sanitation fee by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, lack of public utilities and inadequate parking facilities in the Srinagar city.
The Governor assured the delegation to take up their demands with the State Government.
