Srinagar, Mar 27: The J&K Private Hospitals and Dialysis Centres Association (JKPHDCA) today condemned the de-empanelment of privately-run Shifa Hospital by the State Health Agency (SHA), calling the move an attempt to “coerce” private hospitals into accepting “unfair” terms.
The Association said that the decision was taken citing the hospital’s refusal to honor AB-PMJAY-SEHAT scheme insurance patients due to an expired contract.
“This move is particularly egregious as all hospitals in the region are currently on strike for the same reason, yet Shifa Hospital is being singled out for punitive action,” JKPHDCA stated.
The Association termed the decision “selective targeting” and an attempt to “suppress voices,” aimed at “coercing” Shifa Hospital into accepting unfair terms.
“The ongoing strike highlights systemic issues, including a 10% reduction in the existing package and the restriction of four surgical procedures to public hospitals, both of which are plaguing the Ayushman Bharat Scheme,” JKPHDCA added.
The Association warned that the de-empanelment would have devastating consequences for patients relying on insurance coverage, leaving them vulnerable and without access to essential healthcare.
