UDHAMPUR, Oct 30: To discuss the alleged unfair attitude of the Education Department towards high and higher secondary private schools, a meeting of private schools was organized by R P Sharma, under the chairmanship of Ajay Gupta, President of J&K Private School Association.
While speaking, the members said that all the schools which had filed their files in JKBOSE for the grant of affiliation on offline mode till July 31, 2021 have not been recognized by the Education Department till date and the number of such schools may be more than 1285.
“The period of affiliation of many schools has ended on March 31, 2023 or going to end in March 31, 2024 or March 31, 2025 and for the extension/upgradation of affiliation from JKBOSE, files should be uploaded with all NOCs and other documents one year prior than their expiry on the portal of Education Department through online mode,” they explained and added that failure of the Education Department in uploading the recognition has raised a question mark on fate of the schools.
Members also criticized the decision of JKBOSE regarding increase in affiliation and periodic inspection fee for private schools vide Notification No. F (Acad-C) / Dyn / Aff / Fee /23 dt September18, 2023.
President of the J&K Private Schools Association Ajay Gupta briefed the members that since 2021 till date, number of deputations met with the concerned officials to apprise them about the delay in recognition on the basis of affiliation to all such schools whose files were submitted on offline mode but there was no response. He further said that the decision taken by the Finance Committee of the JKBOSE to notify the dynamic affiliation fee on the combined enrolment strength of students in Private Schools is unreasonable and unjustified because JKBOSE had taken arbitrary decision without consulting the major stakeholders.
Ajay Gupta appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene into the matter to settle the genuine grievances of small private schools owners to save them from exploitation and unwanted torture by the Education and its allied Departments.
The meeting was attended by Vineet Gupta, Siddheshwar Sadotra, Thomas Ommen, Bishan Sharma, Rakesh Gupta, Parshant Salaria, Seddharth Magotra, Shakti Sharma, Renu Sharma, Manoj Sharma, Rajesh Modi, Rakesh Kumar, Darshan Sharma etc.
