JAMMU, June 21: Jammu Kashmir Reserved Categories Empowerment Alliance (JKRCEA) has accused the Government of befooling SC/ST/OBCs of J&K and systematically withdrawing the guarantees meant for the welfare of these communities.
Talking to media persons, here today, Prof G L Thapa, Working President of JKRCEA, alleged that due to biased mind set of the governing system of J&K, genuine demands of SC/ST/OBCs like restoration of reservation in promotions, implementation of Mandal Commission report, etc have been ignored.
“The Babugiri in J&K UT has again ditched SC/STs by changing their roster point in direct recruitments from 3,15,27,39,51, 63, and so on to 2, 22,32, 42, 62 and so on making very bleak chances for SCs in recruitment at the cost of unconstitutionally carved categories like ST Paharis, EWS etc,” he said.
He further said that in Public Service Commission (SC) SC and ST members slot has remained vacant since long despite a constitutional obligation.
Mohinder Bhagat, (Working General Secretary) , alleged that none of the promises made by BJP with SC/ST/OBCs has been fulfilled in J&K. He said that issue of reservation in promotions remained unsolved and rather sabotaged.
Similarly, he added, SCST Atrocities Act and Mandal Commission report remain unimplemented, ST status of Gujjar/Bakarwals stands diluted in J&K, no whereabouts of SC Component Plans while many successful attempts were made to snatch state lands from SC/OBCs after abrogation of Article 370. He also alleged slow and less disbursement of SC/ST Scholarships and only lip service to Balmiki communities.
Sham Bassan, alleged that the LG Government has miserably failed to implement constitutional provisions for SC/ST/OBCs as promised while abrogating Article 370 and demoting J&K from State to UT.
JKRCEA leaders forcefully demanded restoration of reservation in promotions, withdrawal of S.O 305 of 2024, dated 21st May 2024 for redrawing the roster, appointment of one SC & one ST member in JKPSC and SSRB too, streamlining of scholarships for SC/STs, disbanding of newly created commission for redrawing OBC statues in JKUT, implementation of Mandal Commission report.
Prof Kali Dass, Kewal Krishan Fotra, Abdul Majeed Malik, Er Surinder Dewgoda, T C Bavouria, G L Rahi, M L Banalia and others attended the press conference.
