JAMMU, Jan 8: Reiterating the demand for restoration of reservation in promotions, Jammu Kashmir Reserved Categories Empowerment Alliance (JKRCEA) has castigated ruling dispensation of both Central and JKUT Government for allegedly misleading the SC/ST/OBC masses in the matter of reservation.
“During election campaigns, all political parties do sloganeering regarding reservation for SC/ST/OBCs as enshrined in the Indian Constitution but after getting their vote and coming to power they linger on the issue and create confusions,” said leaders of JKRCEA, while addressing a press conference, here today.
Prof G L Thapa, working president of JKRCEA, while elaborating on the issue, said that during BJP-PDP coalition Government, in Dec 2015, High Court of J&K struck down provisions of reservation in promotions for reserved categories of J&K. Even as SC/ST employees filed SLP in Supreme Court and got ‘blanket stay’ on High Court order, the same has not been implemented so far in spite of JKRCEA’s hundreds of memorandums to Government and LG, he added.
“BJP not only tried to bury the issue of reservation in promotion in JKUT even after 370 abrogation but attacked direct recruitment reservation also by re-casting direct recruitment roster point for SC/STs and finished off backlog post of SC/STs with one stroke of pen,” he said.
Asad Noomani, while further elaborating, alleged that JK bureaucrats miscommunicated and misguided political system of the erstwhile State and now UT when Apex court put a blanket ban on High Court Order that struck down reservation in promotions.
The members of JKRCEA demanded clear stand of National Conference top leadership on the issue of reservation for SC/ST/OBCs including reservation in promotions. The members also warned SC/ST/OBC Morcha leaders of BJP to stop parroting the songs of their political masters and stop befooling their own communities for meager personal political gains.
The JKRCEA leaders reiterated their demand of safeguarding reservation in employments and restoration of reservation in promotions by implementing CAT order, along with submitting urgency memo in the Supreme Court and getting the case disposed off there.
JKRCEA also demanded restoring back the direct recruitments roster, in toto implementation of Mandal Commission Report and initiation of caste based census in JKUT.
The members who attended press conference includes Sham Basson, R C Bhasin, Joginder Pal, T C Bavouria, G L Rahi, M L Banalia, Surinder Dewagowda, Darshan Kalsotra, Kali Dass, M R Bangotra and others.
