JAMMU, Dec 23: Castigating the Government for no responsive approach on the issue of reservation in promotions, the representatives of different socio-religious organizations have appealed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene and restore the reservation in promotions, which was enacted none other than her father Mufti Mohd Sayeed.
The appeal was made during a meeting of Jammu Kashmir Reserve Categories Empowerment Alliance (JKRCEA), which was attended by socio-religious, forum of retired SC/ST employees, Youth & Students and women wings of JKRCEA held at Guru Ravi Dass Mandir, Bahu Fort today.
The participants expressed serious concern over deliberate breach of reservation policy of the State by not implementing the provision of reservation promotions and the directions issued by the Apex Court in the matter. They also warned that if the Government fails in restoring the reservation in promotions for the SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories in the current session itself, they would launch mass agitation throughout the State, which according to them would lead to political debacle.
Dr Sanjay Bhasin, chief of JKRCEA, said that despite repeated appeals and requests from reserved categories people for implementation of stay granted by Apex Court in the matter of reservation in promotion, the Government is not paying any heed to this issue of grave concern which if left unaddressed shall cause irreversible damage to the employees of SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories and the violators shall have to pay the price for it.
Bodh Raj Bhagat, Senior Vice President, All India Bhagat Mahasabha said, “If the Government does not take any remedial step to restore the reservation in promotion for the reserved classes in the current session itself, we will  be left with no other option but to come on roads for mass protest against this” he added.
