JAMMU, Mar 3: Jammu Kashmir Reserve Categories Employees Association (JKRCEA) has sought the intervention of Governor NN Vohra to protect the rights of reserved categories regarding reservation in promotion.
While deliberating over the current scenario of reservation in promotions that is believed to be misinterpreted by various departments of J&K Government, JKRCEA in a meeting held here today at Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust (GDCT) under the chairmanship of its president, Dr Sanjay Bhasin, urged the Governor to intervene and issue the necessary directive to the authorities at the helm of affairs not to misinterpret the “Status quo” granted by Supreme Court in the SLP filed by reserved categories, challenging the J&K High Court Divisional Bench verdict of 09.10.2015 on reservation in promotions.
Dr Sanjay Bhasin, addressing the employees said that after scraping of reservation in promotions and the Section 6 of Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act 2004, and Rules 9, 10 and 34 Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Rules 2005, it is unfortunate that the State Government which was also a party in this case didn’t even try to go to defend its own Act.
He went on adding that not so much, when the aggrieved employees of reserved categories challenged the J&K High Court verdict before Apex court and got interim relief in the form of status quo, the same is being grossly misinterpreted which clearly shows the concern and commitment of Government towards the people of reserved categories.
Dr Zabeer Ahmed, general secretary of JKRCEA while speaking on the occasion said that in case the authorities will go on misinterpreting the ‘status quo’ granted by Apex Court, the employees of reserved categories would suffer an irreparable loss which not only badly affect their career prospect but also a sense of insecurity and disappointment would brew among marginalized sections.
