JKRCEA takes out protest rally in support of reservation in promotions

POONCH, Oct 30: Jammu and Kashmir Reserved Categories Employees Association (JKRCEA) today held a protest rally against the unrelenting silence of the Government over the J&K High Court’s verdict on reservation in promotions at Krishan Chander Park, here.
The rally, in which more than five thousand people participated, started from Krishan Chander Park Poonch and culminated with the handing over of a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Poonch for the Chief Minister, in support of reservation in promotion in Jammu and Kashmir.
Deputy Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, Jehangir Hussain Mir, MLA Mendhar, Choudhary Javed Ahmed Rana, MLA Surankote, Choudhary Mohammad Akram Lassanvi and State President JKRCEA participated in the rally. District President JKRCEA, Choudhary Mohammad Asad Noomani, Ex-Minister and Legislator, Choudhary Bashir Ahmed Naz, Senior PDP leader Lal Hussain Mushtaq, Choudhary Abdul Ghani Chouhan, besides thousands of retired and serving employees of reserved categories and general public were also present on the occasion.
Deputy Chairman in his address said that reservation has brought revolution in the society and has proved to be an effective tool of social justice. While respecting the verdict of the High Court, Mir called upon all the people belonging to reserved categories in the State to unite to fight the forces inimical to their just interests.
Choudhary Javed Ahmed Rana accused successive regimes in the State and Centre of repeatedly conspiring to attack the only tool of attaining equality in the otherwise inegalitarian and brahminical social structure. He called upon the suppressed and downtrodden to awake and unite to fight for their fundamental human rights which were there even before the constitutional framers recognized and codified, he asserted.
MLA Surankote, in his address assured his complete support to undo the ramifications of the verdicts which he called a conspiracy of the elitist minority to attack the egalitarian social institutions like reservation in the State.
President JKRCEA demanded immediate legal framework to provide justice to the weaker sections and asked the Government and the brahmanical forces to choose separate electorates if they feel uncomfortable with the fundamental rights under Article 16 of the Indian constitution.
District President JKRCEA, Choudhary Mohamad Asad Noomani, Ex-Minister and Legislator, Choudhary Bashir Ahmed Naz, Senior PDP leader Lal Hussain Mushtaq, Choudhary Abdul Ghani Chouhan, Er Zaheer, Zabir Bajjar, Barkat Hussain were among several others who spoke on the occasion.
