JAMMU, June 4: J&K Students Association today urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to establish entrance examination centre of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI), Delhi University (DU) and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for Kashmiri students in Srinagar.
In a statement, Association said that hundreds of students from Kashmir are appearing in entrance examination for 2022-2023 in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi University (DU), Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), who have their centres in Delhi and Aligarh. The students are scheduled to appear in the entrance examinations starting from second week of June.
Association said that it would not be possible for those living in far-flung areas to reach Delhi and Aligarh amid scorching heat and financial constraints. “It is not possible for downtrodden students to afford air tickets to travel to other states for appearing in the entrance exam,” said the Association and appealed Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to urgently take up the matter with the concerned universities for establishing alternative exam centre for students in Srinagar.
