JAMMU, Mar 3: The Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) in a meeting held at Satrayian in RS Pura expressed their gratitude and highly appreciated Amit Shah, Home Minister of India for timely taking cognizance of the issue by extending the period of scheme upto 2026 to provide the benefit of relief package of Rs 5.5 lakhs to all the PoK families besides others. This timely step has saved the legitimate rights of remaining thousands of bonafide families.
While interacting with executive members of JKSAC sub-district unit RS Pura, Gurdev Singh president along with Bhagwan Singh, Capt Puran Singh Chib and Sunil Kumar apprised the participant members that special secy. DMRRR also having the charge of PRO office issued an arbitrary notification No. DIP/J-12310/21 dated 28-01-2022 for the closure of one time settlement scheme in respect of DPs of 1947 from PoK, 1965 and 1971. He said that the notification was strongly opposed by JKSAC and others as it was arbitrary, illogical and mischievous. He said that Govt was consistently being approached and pursued by JKSAC right from Div Comm to Chief Secy to extend the scheme to accommodate the remaining left-out DP families.
He further said after seeing no ray of hope from the Govt, JKSAC filed a writ petition in High Court of J&K which was heard Feb 8, 2022 and time was granted to UT Govt to file the objections at the request of legal representative of the UT Govt. Inspite of filing the objections special secy DMRRR extended the meaningless closure date of the scheme upto March 5,2022. A PIL has also been filed again in respect of DP’s including other issues which are covered under law but are not implemented.
He said that it need to mention here that ex-gratia relief of Rs 5.5 Lakhs was provide to 36,384 DP families including 26,319 families of 1947 from PoK and 10,065 of 1965 & 1971. He said that out of 26,319 DPs families from PoK the relief has been disbursed only to 20,000 families and 1000 families are still pending disbursement including disputes cases. The mandatory records/formalities in respect of remaining over 4000 families is either dilapidated, torn or missing. The supplementary records of these DPs families is lying with the Govt. He made an appeal to Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene personally in the matter.
