JKSAC resents only one seat instead of 8 for DPs in LA

JAMMU, July 31: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) appealed MoS PMO, Dr. Jatendra Singh and Jugal Kishore Sharma, MP to convey to PM Modi the resentment of Displaced Persons (DPs) of 1947 from PoJK with regard to nomination of only one seat instead of eight for Legislative Assembly (LA).
In a meeting of JKSAC here today the participants also requested Tarun Chugh and Dr. Narinder Singh, National general secretary to impress upon the central government to modify the Bill for Assembly seats as DPs have already been discriminated and neglected by past dispensations.
“The JPC report on Home Affairs has clearly recommended the Central government to de-freeze 8 seats besides other components like Rs. 30 lakh ex-gratia relief to each DP family, reservation for their wards in technical institution and government services,” speakers in the meeting said.
Gurdev Singh, president JKSAC said that DPs have been struggling since 1967 for their final settlement.
Dwarka Nath Khajuria, district president JKSAC also spoke on the occasion.
