JKSAC’s plea to MLAs

JAMMU, Apr 4:  The Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) in it’s core group meeting held at Jammu appealed to all the Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of UT of J&K to pass a resolution unanimously urging GoI to accept and implement the recommendations made by Joint Parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs in its report No 183, the only viable roadmap for adequate and honorable settlement of DPs of 1947 from PoJK.
  It is further appealed to the Legislative members from displaced community namely- Dr. Narinder Singh,  Vikram Randhawa and  Arvind Gupta to initiate the process for tabling the resolution in the House before it is adjourned sine die. They have been also requested to take-up the issue of ST status for the remaining Pahari speaking DPs scattered in Jammu, Kathua and other districts with Home Minister  Amit Shah on his ensuing visit to Jammu on  April 6, 2025.
Addressing the meeting Gurdev Singh, president alongwith Dwarka Nath, Ajit Singh, Puran Singh Chib and others apprised the participants that over a decade has passed the recommendations made by JPC  headed by former Vice-President of India Venkaiah Naidu submitted the report to GoI which was tabled in both the Houses of Parliament in December 2014 for acceptance of the recommendations made for the settlement of DPs of PoJK and Chhamb sector. The speaker termed this report as the most appropriate and viable roadmap to end the decades old sufferings of DPs. Expressing his dismay, Gurdev Singh said that GoI took no decision and kept in abeyance the recommendations made without quoting any reason.
The participants appealed to the all the Members of Legislative Assembly to rise above the party lines to support this resolution on humanitarian grounds.
