JAMMU, July 26: J&K State Pensioners’ Association (JKSPA) today lambasted the State Government for unprecedented price rise and shortage of food items in Government depots.
Addressing a meeting of the association, its general secretary, Madan Lal Abrol, said that increase in prices of essential commodities including medicine, flour, rice, sugar, tea and oil had adverse effect on the poor, middle class, pensioners and common masses.
Abrol said that during the elections political leaders had promised that prices would be controlled and brought down, but there is a world of difference between their saying and doing, which is evident from the recent increase in prices of essential commodities.
The meeting passed a resolution demanding enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 3000 and interim relief of Rs 5000 per month.
