JAMMU, Dec 26: Demanding restoration of waiting list provision in the selection process, aggrieved aspirants of Jammu Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) held a protest demonstration, here today.
Carrying placards, the aggrieved aspirants raised slogans in support of their demand and appealed the JKSSB to restore the provision of preparing waiting lists for recruitment in Government services.
Pertinent to mention that the J&K Government had recently repealed the rules that mandated recruiting agencies such as the Public Service Commission and the Services Selection Board to maintain a wait list alongside the select list. Traditionally, alongside the select list, recruiting agencies would create a wait list to accommodate candidates for any “drop out” vacancies that may arise during the recruitment process.
The protesting aspirants explained that abolition of wait list leads to selection of individual candidates for multiple positions, which ultimately results into falling several posts vacant in absence of a waiting list.
The aggrieved aspirants appealed the Government to restore the provision of wait list so that posts may not fall vacant and maximum candidates could be absorbed on merit basis.
