UDHAMPUR, Oct 8: J&K Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Department of Science & Technology, organized a grand science exhibition at GHSS Tikri, here today.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Chief Education Officer Udhampur, Narender Mohan Suri while Shruti Khanna, District Coordinator JKSTIC was the guest of honor during the event.
Cluster of Government and Private Institutions of Tikri area participated in the Science Model Exhibition with the theme “A New Vision to Sustainability”. The projects were displayed with the sub themes Rain water harvesting, solid waste management, plastic waste management, alternative sources of energy etc.
The objective of organizing this exhibition was not only to inculcate a scientific attitude and research mind but also to enhance students’ interest in Science and Technology. The students showcased static and working models for teaching and learning scientific concepts.
The welcome address was presented by Principal of GHSS Tikri, Monika Karlupia. The event concluded with the distribution of trophies, cash award and certificates to the best performing schools. A vote of thanks was presented by Anita Sharma Senior Lecturer.
GHSS Tikri won first prize for its model on ‘Use of Sensor in Agriculture Sewage Management’ while second prize was bagged by Sainik Co-op School for ‘Pollution Converted in Ink’ model. Third prize was secured by GMS Jakhar for ‘Resource Conservation through Self Reliance’ model.
GMS Mand, GMC Lehnu and GHSS Tikri were awarded consolation prize for their models ‘Plastic Roads’, ‘Energy Conservation’ and ‘Waste Management’, respectively.
