JKTF, AIKPC organise interactive session on displaced Pandits issues

JAMMU, Mar 16: An interactive Session was organized by JK Thinkers Forum (JKTF) and All India Kashmiri Pandit Conference (AIKPC) to deliberate over the problems of displaced Pandits leading an exiled life for last 28 years outside Kashmir Valley.
PDP MLA from Kokernag, Abdul Rahim Rather was the chief guest while ex MLC and NC leader, Dr  Bashir Ahmed Veeri, Prof  AN Sadhu former HoD Department of Economics University of Jammu and R K Bhat, president Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj were guests of honour.
In his address MLA,  A R Rather showed his total solidarity with displaced people from Valley and assured the gathering that he will raise their plight in every forum as well as with Government.
He said “we all have to join hands for restoration of peace in Valley and bringing people closer to each other as majority community as well as minorities of Valley are the sufferers of turmoil”.
NC leader Dr Bashir Ahmed Veeri also expressed sympathies with the displaced people and said a united struggle needs to be launched to bring Kashmir out of present mess and restore peace there. “Under prevailing circumstances return of migrants to Valley is not possible”, he added.
Prof  A N Sadhoo said that the need of the hour is that all should work together for preservation of ethos of Kashmir and restoration of composite culture which enriched the Kashmir for centuries together.
R K Bhat, president, YAIKS in his address disputed the claims that Kashmiri Pandits are divided lot. This adage has been attached to the community by the political parties who for one or other reason are not interested for the rehabilitation of the community in their homeland Kashmir.
He also made it clear that no body should have problem in settling Pandits in separate colonies in Valley. When such colonies  exist for minorities in Jammu what is harm in establishing separate colonies for minority Pandits in Valley, he asked?
President Thinkers Forum, Kuldeep Pandita in his welcome address said that the Government has totally failed during last 28 years in rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in their homeland with honor and dignity and all promises made so far have proved hollow in this regard with the result the condition of the exiled people is becoming miserable day by day and they are having a bleak future.
He said a swift dispersal of the community is a cause of concern as displaced Pandits are losing faith in main stream politics.
M K Yogi working president, N C Minority Cell stressed on bridging the gap between two communities while Sundri Lal Koul and Ravinder Pandita of over aged youth highlighted the plight of the displaced youth who have been the worst victims of terrorism.
Dr Amina also stressed on joint efforts for restoration of peace and return of the displaced people to Valley.
Ramesh Hangloo of Sharda Radio, M K Pandita, general secretary, AIKPC, Ravinder Pandita, Sanjay Raina, Nana Ji Wattal of PDP, Nana Ji Raina ex sarpanch and many others were present in the programme. The introductory speech was made by Comrade Mohan Lal.
