JAMMU, Mar 13: A deputation of Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) led by Adbul Qayoom Wani, State chairman JKTF and Ganesh Khajuria, State general secretary of the Forum called on Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh and MoS for Education, Priya Sethi and submitted a memorandum highlighting the burning problems being faced by the teaching community.
Mr Wani while apprising the Ministers about the plight of surplus Master, who have been repeatedly victimized in the name of adjustment and detachment, said that these Masters have served in the far- flung areas of Jammu province and after their transfers to home districts, they were not adjusted in schools rather, attached in different schools and offices. Now, these Masters turned surplus and were again shunted out to remote and far flung areas of other districts which is great injustice to them. It has caused mental agony to them. The Department is further harassing them by issuing threatening notices.
Mr Khajuria while highlighting the genuine grievances of the Masters, more particularly the female Masters, pointed out that 165 Masters, out of nearly 1100 were promoted as Masters in February 2014 and most of them were adjusted on pick and choose basis by throwing all the norms to the wind by the then Education authorities in Jammu district. The Forum pleaded for the cancellation of their adjustment and utilize the vacant posts by adjusting the surplus Masters and conduct an impartial inquiry and punish the guilty.
The Ministers gave them a patient hearing and assured that justice would be done to the aggrieved Masters by taking into consideration the suggestions made by the Forum and necessary steps shall be taken at the earliest.
Others who accompanied the deputation were Rajinder Gupta, Satish Dutta, Gopal Singh, Darshan Sharma, Kamini Kumari, Jamat Ali Agha, Fouzia and Anchal Kour.
