JKTF demands 7th Pay Commission for SSA/RMSA teachers, Masters

JAMMU, Jan 6: A meeting of the central body of Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum, under the presidium of Ganesh Khajuria, State general secretary JKTF, was held here today, wherein marathon session regarding the pending salaries as per 7th Pay Commission of the Head Teachers, Masters and RReTs promoted as Masters was conducted.
Ganesh Khajuria said that the Governor’s administration had promised on 28th August 2018, through Advisor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai at Srinagar that all the Teachers irrespective of their cadres will get the salary as per 7th Pay Commission w.e.f September 2018 but the order in this regard didn’t turn into reality even after the lapse of more than 5 months.
“If Jutice is not delivered to this elite class of the society, which is known as the nation builders , during the Governor and President rule in the State, how can we expect that justice be delivered to us when State will be run by politicians?” he asked.
Khajuria said that ‘ right to wages is a fundamental right enshrined in the Constitution of India and there are specific mandatory directions contained in the payment of wages Act too but it was a sorry state of affairs that the Directorate of SMAGRA Shiksha has taken no steps to clear the pending salary and for resolving the discrimination.
“How can a teacher concentrate in his teaching/class room activities when he is deprived of his salary? This is the reason that the pass percentage of Government schools is decreasing ,” he added and appealed to the Governor to release the salaries of the aggrieved employees of the Education Department as per the 7th Pay Commission so that the teacher community may come out of the mental trauma that they are going through. Otherwise, he threatened, JKTF will be again forced to come on the streets to get their genuine rights from the Government.
