JAMMU, Apr 4: The Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee has demanded continuation of Aayas/Helpers in schools for the welfare of small kids studying in Nursery classes as their term has been completed on March 31, 2025.
In a press statement today JKTJAC UT, president Vinod Sharma urged the Education Minister, Additional Chief Secretary School Education, Director School Education Jammu/Kashmir and State Project Director Samagra to intervene in this matter and issue necessary directions for the continuation of Aayas- cum-Helpers.
“It’s a welcome step of the Government to start Nursery classes in Government schools by providing Kinder Garten infrastructure in many schools which has resulted in more and more admissions of small kids, but it’s very difficult for the teaching staff to take care of them. For this reason services of Aayas/ Helpers should be continued.
He also expressed his anguish over non- disbursement of all types of free supply of books to the students. He said that one month of winter zone session is complete and session has started in summer zones but there are many titles of books short and students are suffering badly. He appealed the J&K Board authorities to look into the matter and provide the books as early as possible.
Meanwhile, JKTJAC has also shown great concern on pendency of MDM dues for the year 2024-25 which the teachers have managed from their own pockets . Sharma demanded immediate release of pending dues so that `mid-day meals’ runs smoothly in schools.
