JAMMU, Feb 19: Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee has demanded extension of winter vacations to Teachers of winter zones of Jammu Province due to inclement weather conditions.
In a press statement, issued by JKTJAC President Vinod Sharma, Administrative Secretary School Education Department and Director School Education Jammu have been urged to intervene in this regard and take a call for the extension of vacations to Teachers for a few days .
Vinod Sharma said that due to heavy rains and snowfall in upper reaches, various roads have been closed and there’s fear of landslides and falling of trees which will make it difficult for the teachers to reach their schools.
“As the schools for students will reopen on 1st March, there is need for extension of vacation for 2 to 3 days till the weather improves,” he said and hoped that Director School Education Jammu will take a call in this regard for the safety of staff .
