JKTJAC highlights demands, issues of teaching fraternity

UDHAMPUR, May 1: Monthly meeting of Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) was held here today under the leadership of UT president Vinod Sharma and District President Lekh Raj Parihar. The meeting was attended by executive members from all the eleven zones of the district.
While speaking in the meeting, Vinod Sharma highlighted the genuine issues of teaching fraternity and appealed the Principal Secretary School Education to redress them.
The issues raised included; comprehensive transfer policy in favour of teachers appointed under ReT scheme, inclusion of 5 years ReT period for seniority benefits, DPC of teachers to Masters, raising of Grade of teachers at par with their counterparts in other UTs, conversion of Head Teachers posts into non plan posts of Masters, rationalisation of teaching staff, no non- teaching assignments to the teachers, provision of MDM/ free supply of books and uniform for KG students, etc.
Vinod Sharma also appealed the LG administration to make provision of old pension scheme for the employees of the UT appointed after 01.01.2010.
Speaking on the occasion, Lekh Raj Parihar raised the issue of release of Mid-day Meals funds which the teachers have managed from their own pocket and release of more than 2 years arrears of teachers of the district. He also appeared Chief Education Officer Udhampur to give instructions to DDOs not to be partial in giving grades to teachers in EMP.
