UDHAMPUR, Dec 1: Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) held its monthly meeting today, under the leadership of UT president Vinod Sharma and district president Lekh Raj Parihar.
Attended by executive members and representatives from all zones of Udhampur district, the meeting focused on addressing the pressing concerns of the teaching fraternity.
Vinod Sharma urged the Government to resolve key issues affecting teachers, particularly those appointed under the ReT scheme. He appealed to the Education Minister for the implementation of Government Order Number 469 Edu of 2014, which includes five years of ReT service for seniority and transfer benefits. Sharma highlighted a recent CAT ruling equating regularized ReTs with general line teachers, allowing district-level transfers.
He also called for the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme for employees appointed after January 1, 2010, arguing that the current NPS deprives retirees of adequate benefits. Other demands included the regularization of ReTs completing their five-year tenure, conversion of RRETs to Teachers Grade II/III, granting cash-in-lieu benefits, upgrading head teachers’ posts to non-plan master posts, and conducting another DPC for teachers to master promotions.
Additional issues raised included timely adjustment of recently promoted masters in Jammu province, release of time-barred arrears, parity in teachers’ grades with other UTs, granting earned leave for teachers engaged during vacations, filling vacant posts in headless schools/zones, and providing DDO powers to such zones.
Lekh Raj Parihar urged the Chief Education Officer, Udhampur, to address delays in budget submissions and salary grants caused by negligent officials. He also stressed completing service records and releasing pending dues.
Other speakers included Sham Sharma, Ashok Seth, Ravinder Singh Rathore, Vijay Sadotra, Suresh Sharma, Anil Sharma, Gopal Sharma, Som Raj, Sushma Sharma, Raj Kumar, Ranjit Singh, Jai Parkash Dogra, Puma Chand, Binder Kumar, Beerbajan Singh, Sudesh Dubey, Pardeep Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Madan Bhardwaj, Vabal Singh, Sunil Verma, and Yash Paul.
