JKTJAC raises issues, demands of teachers

UDHAMPUR, Oct 6: Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) held a meeting, here today, under the leadership of UT President Vinod Sharma and District President Lekh Raj Parihar.
The meeting was attended by the representatives from all the 11 zones of the district, who highlighted various issues and demands of the teachers.
While speaking on the occasion, Vinod Sharma raised the issue of Old Pension Scheme in favour of employees appointed on or after 01.01.2010 and appealed the authorities to implement it as New Pension Scheme deprives employees of benefits after retirement.
Raising the issue of comprehensive transfer policy in favour of teachers appointed under ReT scheme, he said that these teachers have been working in the same schools for last more than 20 years and many of them including females are suffering badly. He urged for implementation of transfer policy.
Other demands highlighted by the UT President included regularisation of ReTs who have completed five years ReT period; conversion of RRETs to Teachers Grade II/ III; benefit of Cash in Lieu in favour of teaching fraternity; conversion of Headteachers posts into non plan posts of Masters; one more DPC of Teachers to Masters; adjustment of recently promoted Masters, release of time barred arrears of Teachers/Masters; raising Grade of teachers at par with their counter parts in other UTs; earned leave in favour of teachers engaged during summer/ winter vacation for summer/ winter camps and for other duties.
Speaking on the occasion, Lekh Raj Parihar urged the Chief Education Officer Udhampur to release the MDM dues which the teachers have managed from their own pockets. He also urged the CEO to intervene in the matter of completion of service records of the teachers in many zones of the district besides release of dues of the teachers.
