JAMMU, Apr 9: Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) has shown strong resentment against the order of deputing BLOs (95 percent teachers) for registration of general public of District Udhampur on Samadhan portal.
In a press statement, issued by JKTJAC President Vinod Sharma, teachers were allegedly being used in non teaching assignments throughout the year thereby badly hampering studies of the students. He said that in the beginning of the year many teachers were deputed for YUVA mission survey in Udhampur for one month thereby making loss of the studies in summer zones and now again order has been issued by Deputy Commissioner Udhampur for deputing BLOs to register general public on Samadhan portal which is a matter of great concern.
He said that teachers shouldn’t be engaged in non teaching assignments except election related assignments as such engagements on the one hand affect the studies of the students and on the other hand disturb the teachers from the their primary job.
It’s pertinent to mention here that in district Udhampur there’s shortage of more than 30 percent teaching staff and many schools in rural areas are running on rationalisation of teaching staff and at this time when winter zone schools are opened just one month back and session has just started in summer zones.
Vinod Sharma said that BLOs are mostly from Primary and Middle schools and by such orders these understaff schools will suffer badly. Some ZEOs have been issuing orders for BLOs to attend first half in schools and register general public in 2nd half which is quite impossible as there’s a long distance between the place of posting and the areas allotted for registration and it’s also very much difficult for the teachers to do this assignment after school hours, he added and appealed the District Development Commissioner Udhampur to review the said order and revoke it for the welfare of thousands of students. He suggested to engage employees of other departments for such type of non teaching assignments
