JAMMU, Dec 11: To discuss burning issues of the cadre, Jammu Kashmir Teacher/Master Association (JKTMA) today held a monthly meeting under the chairmanship of State President Rakesh Singh and State General Secretary Vivek Gupta.
Singh, while interacting with media persons after the meeting, expressed strong resentment against the concerned authorities for not releasing the DPC list of Teachers to Masters which has created an atmosphere of frustrations due to long stagnation of the cadre. He suggested to create new posts of Master equivalent to the posts of SSA Headteachers by converting them to non-plan posts as this will solve the salary issue of the SSA head Teachers on the one hand and also increase the momentum of DPC of Teachers to Masters by increasing the overall strength of the cadre and also resolve the issue of shortage of Masters in the Govt schools, specially in rural areas.
Hailing the reforms initiated by Principal Secretary Alok Kumar, Mr Singh appealed the Government to sanction the regular posts in hanging and newly upgraded Higher Secondary Schools by giving due preference to market-oriented subjects like biotechnology so that students get maximum choice of combinations near their door steps. Singh opined that without fulfilling all the vacant posts of Masters and Lecturers the new Education Policy cannot be implemented at grass root level.
Vivek Gupta drew attention towards the Time-Bound files of Masters which are lying on the table of DSEJ and appealed to grant sanction to them at the earliest.
Vikram Gupta, State vice-president, urged the Lieutenant Governor to merge all the Anganwadi centres with the nearest Primary schools and hand over the work of Mid Day meal to them and in urban areas some NGOs may be hired for the same, so that teacher become free for academic duties.
Association also urged to implement the policy of RBA selected teachers to serve in RBA areas at least for seven years in order to meet the deficiency of staff in rural areas and also to make separate transfer policy for Math specific teachers.
Ajay Kumar, District president made a strong appeal to restore OPS and enhance the grades of JKUT teachers equivalent to counterparts in other UTs.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included Sham Lal, Mohan Singh and Kartar Chand.
