JAMMU, Mar 23: Monthly meeting of Jammu Kashmir Teacher/Master Association (JKTMA) was held here today under the chairmanship of UT president and veteran Trade Union leader Rakesh Singh.
The meet discussed burning issues of teaching community with special focus on the DPC of Teachers and Masters to Lecturers.
While speaking on the occasion, Singh said that on the one hand Govt boasts to implement the National Education Policy 2020 on the ground but the fact is that many posts of Lecturers specially in the Botany and Zoology stream are vacant in the Senior Secondary Schools, adversely affecting the academic studies of the Science students.
“It is a matter of great concern that despite having significant role in the society the posts of Botany and Zoology are continuously diminishing from the Govt Hr Sec Schools and even where the posts are sanctioned students are facing difficulties in following the subjects due to dearth of Lecturers in Botany and Zoology without which students cannot pursue their career in Medical streams like MBBS, BDS, Pharmacy etc, “ Singh added.
Singh made a strong appeal to Minister of Education Sakeena Itoo to identify all the vacant posts of Botany and Zoology and fill them through 100 percent DPC quota on fast track basis before the commencement of the new academic session so that maximum students have the scope to opt for Medical subject without any hesitation.
Association alleged that despite having huge potential in the career of the students Botany and Zoology subjects are ignored and demanded to create posts of the same in all senior secondary schools.
While inviting attention to the hanging Hr Secondary school, Singh urged the Education Minister to sanction the posts of Lecturers and Principals in these schools as classes of senior students are still taken by the Teachers & Masters in these schools which is against the established procedure.
Others demand raised by the association, included DPC by 100 percent quota on one time basis as per the decision of State Administrative Council (SAC) and enhancement of HRA as per norms.
