JAMMU, Mar 5: Meeting of Jammu Kashmir Teacher/ Master Association (JKTMA) was held here today under the chairmanship of UT President Rakesh Singh to discuss the burning issues of Teachers/Masters
The meeting, which was attended by Executive members & District Presidents of all Districts, reiterated the demand of fast track DPC before commencement of new academic session to meet out deficiency of Lecturers in rural areas.
While speaking on the occasion, Rakesh Singh expressed satisfaction over dropping Distance mode degrees in Science stream from the seniority lists and sought removal of all the Distance mode degrees by rescinding the conditions as envisaged in order 940 and order 252 which allow their inclusion in seniority lists on basis of Bonafide certificate if they have done their practical on campus.
“Practicals conducted by regular students continuously for four semesters cannot be considered equivalent to practical conducted by Distance Education students on the campus for 15 days which is only eyewash by the concerned universities to make an effort for recognition their non-genuine degrees,” Singh said.
During the meeting, the association passed a resolution to reconsider the order number 252 and 940 which are contradictory with the recent judgements by High Court of Jammu Kashmir UT in which it is clearly stated that ” No Distance Education degree in Science stream is considered equivalent to regular Science degree irrespective of any condition and cannot be considered for the benefit of DPC in any case while Universities of Kashmir and Jammu also don’t consider these Distance mode degrees for benefit of admission for higher studies .
“If Distance degrees in Science stream are not considered valid for direct recruitment by Public Service Commission for the post of College Assistant Professors and School Lecturers then how it is considered valid for granting the benefit of DPC on basis of some conditions envisaged in SRO 339, order 252 and order 940?” meet asked.
While inviting attention towards State Administrative Council decision, Singh appealed to Alok Kumar to conduct DPC by allotment of 100 percent quota on one time basis which is necessary to pave the way for transition of Grade-II/Grade III Teachers on GLT posts who are presently working on supernumerary posts.
