JAMMU, Apr 2: A delegation of National Minorities Commission members belonging to J&K UT submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister of State Incharge Minority Affairs, John Barla at New Delhi the other day.
A charter of demands belonging to PoJK displaced persons and minorities in JKUT was handed over to the Minister and a copy was also communicated to the Chairman of the Commission. Amrik Singh (adv), president All J&K 1947 PoJK Intellectual Forum, Maj Gen (Retd) Jagdeep Singh, R S Tohra and Paramjeet Singh joined the delegation.
A large number of delegates from J&K participated in All India Annual Conference of minorities communities at New Delhi’s Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar International Conference Center. It was chaired by John Barla Union Minister while Chairman National Minorities Commission Iqbal Singh Lalpura was special guest.
The conference was attended by the all India National Commission members. The Chairman during his address highlighted the importance of the conference. All the prominent office bearer of the Commission apprised the benefits/ schemes for the upliftment of minority communities.
John Barla insisted upon the members to go to the public domain and make them familiar about the various scheme announced by Narendra Modi Government, especially for the minorities communities like Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains and Parsis. He reiterated that Prime Minister always remains very anxious about the upliftment of the minorities and said it is the India only country who have created a separate Minority department.
There was a special session for members to put their demands and problems from particular states and regions. The Chairman Lalpura replied them up to their satisfaction. The members performed outstanding work in their respective fields were honoured on the occasion.
