JKVM confers Shrayabhat Kirti Samaan to Prof M K Teng

JAMMU, Apr 23: G L Raina, MLC presented Shrayabhat Kirti Samaan to Prof M K Teng for his outstanding contribution to Kashmir cause at his residence here, today. Others present on the occasion were Sanjay Ganjoo, former president, Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch, (JKVM), Ashutosh Bhatnagar, Director, JK Study Circle and other senior community activists including Sanjay Raina and Ajay Raina.
The Award was conferred on him by Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM) and was presented to him in absentia on March 10, 2019 at the Samoohik Shivratri Mohotsav the annual Flagship progamme of JKVM held at Hindi Bhawan, New Delhi.
Due to ill health Dr Teng could not attend the ceremony personally at that time at that time and receive the award. The awards where presented in a glittering ceremony by the chief guest Prabhu Chawla, senior journalist and Editorial Director, The New Indian Express. Chawla, while felicitating Dr Teng praised him for his extraordinary intellectual contribution for highlighting the Kashmir cause.
Dr M.K.Teng is one of the illustrious intellectual figures in Kashmiri Pandit community who, through his writings has contributed a lot towards highlighting the Kashmir issue in national and international forums. His books are considered as an important reference material for understanding the correct perspective of historical, social, human rights & political aspects of Kashmir.
Hundreds of his articles, papers and write ups have appeared in prestigious newspapers and journals in India and overseas written by him.
Dr Teng, while accepting the award became emotional and complimented JKVM for recognising his services. He said that he contributed towards highlighting Kashmir cause and in inspiring Kashmir Pandit movement without any expectation of reward or return. However it was highly appreciable that JKVM thought of honouring him. He further added though he was not in a good health but he will keep on contributing towards this mission.
