Srinagar, Dec 29: Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Foundation (JKYF) distributed Rs 66,000 today among 11 students, including 6 girls, hailing from different parts of Kupwara district in North Kashmir.
A spokesperson for the foundation announced that the scholarships were disbursed during an event organized by JKYF in collaboration with Cultural Forum Kupwara. The event witnessed the participation of students, numerous poets, JKYF volunteers, and a diverse cross-section of the community. “Several prominent poets presented their compositions during the event,” he said.
He said that renowned veterinarian, author, and social activist Dr. Marouf Shah addressed the gathering, urging them to harness latent human capabilities, talent, and capacities for the welfare, improvement of living conditions, and rehabilitation of the most deserving and economically weaker sections of society. “He commended JKYF’s initiative to work without discrimination based on caste, colour, creed, region, or religion,” the spokesperson said.
Earlier, he said, senior volunteer Javaid Iqbal provided a detailed account of various welfare and rehabilitation programmes undertaken by JKYF. “District Representative JKYF Abdul Rahim extended a vote of thanks, urging students to strive with dedication, commitment, and enthusiasm to excel in their academic and professional pursuits,” the spokesperson said.
