Srinagar, Jan 9: In a life-saving operation, a 65-year-old patient at JLNM Hospital was successfully revived after experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest.
The patient, hospital authorities said, who had initially visited the Medicine OPD with a history of Acute Kidney Injury and a creatinine level of 2.6, suddenly collapsed today in the OPD while also presenting with a persistent cough.
Quick and coordinated action by the medical team, led by DNB resident Dr. Hakeem Ali, played a crucial role in the patient’s survival.
Dr. Ali promptly shifted the patient to the Triage for CPR, where the individual was intubated, and four cycles of CPR were administered, leading to the successful revival of the patient.
Following the resuscitation, the patient was placed on mechanical ventilation overnight and was extubated the next morning at 10 am. “Post-extubation, the patient was transferred to the ICU for further monitoring and care.”
However, hospital authorities said that the lab tests conducted revealed elevated levels of creatinine (6.2) and urea (114.), indicating the need for urgent dialysis.
Given JLNM Hospital’s commitment to providing maintenance dialysis, the patient was swiftly transferred to SKIMS for emergency dialysis. “The Nodal officer and MS at SKIMS were informed in advance, ensuring a seamless transition.”
A follow-up inquiry with the SKIMS Nephrology department confirmed that the patient’s condition had improved significantly, highlighting the successful collaboration between JLNM Hospital and SKIMS in ensuring the patient’s well-being.
