JAMMU, Aug 12: Kiran Wattal, Municipal Commissioner, inaugurated water cooler at Manda near Hari Palace, Jammu, constructed at the cost of Rs 2.0 lakh by Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Senior citizens and local people belonging to Karan Nagar, Ambphalla and its adjoining areas participated in the inaugural function.
Commissioner informed the people on the occasion, that the water cooler will provide the drinking facility to the tourists, police force deployed at the entry point of Manda as well as to the evening and morning walkers.
This is 297th water cooler installed by Jammu Municipal Corporation within the limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation.  Among these, 85 percent of total water coolers are functioning properly and rest are under repair.
The Commissioner  remarked that  if there was  any complaint regarding the non-functioning of water coolers then JMC  help line number  18001803333, 9419182251 may be approached to get the water cooler immediately repaired.
Among others, Health Officer, Municipal Veterinary Officer, AEE (Trikuta), AEE (Electrical) and other staff from the Corporation were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Dr Zafar Iqbal along with field staff on the directions of Commissioner JMC, conducted a special drive in the areas of Rehari Chungi, Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Dogra Hall, Trikuta Nagar etc. While checking about 110 quintals of milk was checked in above said areas by way of different methods as well as about 10 kg of polythene was seized, and fine to the tune of Rs 19600 realized from the defaulters.
The drive will remain continue in near future.
