JAMMU, Nov 8: Dr Devansh Yadav, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), today conducted a surprise inspection across multiple wards in the city to evaluate sanitation standards and assess the attendance of sanitation staff.
During his visit to Wards 30, 32, 40, 41, and 61, and nearby areas like Vikas Lane, Talab Tillo, Poonch House, Gole Gujral, Akhnoor Road, Trilokpur, Pouni Chak, and Santra Morh, the JMC Commissioner emphasized the importance of public awareness, urging sanitation workers to educate residents on avoiding garbage disposal in water bodies and maintaining cleanliness across the wards.
He encouraged community involvement in waste management and highlighted the availability of dedicated vehicles for door-to-door refuse collection, which supports the Swachh Bharat Mission’s objectives.
Reaffirming JMC’s commitment to improving municipal services, Dr Devansh Yadav stressed that maintaining sanitation is a primary responsibility of the Corporation, which requires cooperation from the public.
He urged residents not to dispose off waste in open areas and directed the Health Wing of JMC to fulfil their duties diligently, ensuring better sanitation facilities for the community.
He also cautioned that any negligence in maintaining sanitation standards would not be tolerated, underscoring JMC’s commitment to sustaining cleanliness and hygiene in Jammu’s municipal areas.
