JAMMU, May 30: On the instructions of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner, Rahul Yadav, an anti-encroachment drive was today conducted here by JMC under the close supervision of Secretary JMC, Atul Kumar and Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) JMC, Manisha along with Chief Revenue Officer and Enforcement Officers.
City Police assisted JMC in the drive which was carried on at K.C Crossing, Indira Chowk, Hari Market via Sunder Singh Gurudwara Road up to the area below Gumat.
The drive was conducted against the illegal encroachments, wrongly parked vehicles and street vendors which were causing traffic congestion and obstructions to free movement of pedestrian on footpaths.
During the drive JMC team lifted and seized goods and material displayed on roadside including two wheelers parked illegally on roadside for repairing and four JMC trucks were used to lift such goods.
The JMC has appealed to all the shopkeepers, Rehriwalas and street vendors to avoid encroaching main roads, footpaths, pavements as the same causes inconvenience to the general public and pedestrians and also creates obstruction in the free movement of vehicular traffic.
