JAMMU, Dec 27: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Councillor, Gurmeet Kour Randhawa of Ward No. 69, Sainik Colony has adopted a systematic approach for development of her Ward and she got implemented essential works which were completely ignored earlier for years.
Randhawa today inaugurated the construction work of drains and culvert in Sainik Colony worth Rs. 5 lakh.
A handout stated that the area was getting waterlogged during monsoon season and water used to enter residential houses for the last 20 years and now with the construction of culvert locals there will heave a sigh of relief.
The JMC Councillor urged upon the PDD Department to install streetlights along the Nallah and PHE Department to repair the non-functional tube wells and partial functioning tube wells in the area to overcome water scarcity in Sainik Colony.
Gurmeet Kour Randhawa said that people in her Ward should get water supply at least once a day and not once in three days.
She also appealed Sainik Cooperative House Building Society to accord permission for construction of office of JMC Councillor for Ward No. 69 otherwise funds allotted for the purpose will lapse.
She said that proactive approach is required from all departments and society to mitigate the problems and shortage of essential services and no excuse can justify non/partial availability of basic necessities to the residents of Sainik Colony.
