JMC demolishes 14 unauthorized structures raised on footpaths

JAMMU, Apr 17: Undertaking it drive against the encroachers and violators to clear the footpaths and pavements, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today demolished 14 structures erected upon footpaths which include permanently fixed reharies at Rail Head Complex near Police Martyr Memorial and seized five truck loads of material from the spot.
The day-long drive was taken out by Enforcement Staff led by the Chief Enforcement Officers on the directions of Soujanya Sharma, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Jammu.
In a joint move, the team along with Enforcement Staff of Jammu Development Authority demolished 14 structures erected upon footpaths which include permanently fixed reharies at Rail Head Complex near Police Martyr Memorial and seized 5 truck loads of material from the spot. These structures were hampering movement of pedestrians and causing obstruction in the free flow movement of vehicular traffic.
The police from Trikuta Nagar police station and from District Police Lines, Jammu rendered all the necessary assistance to the Enforcement Staff while removing the encroachments from there.
Thereafter, the enforcement Staff demolished the platform raised in a part of a Lane in front of H No 295, Sector No 2, Channi Himmat, Jammu against which the residents of locality were raising objections.
An ongoing construction being raised unauthorizedly in the rear and side setbacks of a plot at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, have also been demolished by the team.
The team also retrieved the State land near Sewerage Treatment Plant at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu by removing and demolishing the fence erected by encroachers.
