JMC destroys adulterated milk, recovers Rs 14,300 from defaulters

JAMMU, Oct 4: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today destroyed large quantity of adulterated milk and realized fine to the tune of Rs 14,300 from the milk vendors in Satwari and Canal Road area.
Commissioner, JMC Kiran Wattal Jammu Municipal Corporation today paid surprise visit in Satwari Chowk along with Health Officer, MVO and Food Safety Officers and destroyed large quantity of adulterated milk. Fine to the tune of Rs 4,300 was realized from the milk vendors.
Later Commissioner along with his team also paid surprise visit in milk shop at Canal Road and also destroyed the adulterated milk. Fine of Rs 10,000 was realized from the defaulter.
Kiran Wattal advised milk shop owners and sweet shop owners to maintain quality parameters by observing standard norms in preparation and sale of sweets especially in view of forthcoming festival season.
Meanwhile, “Clean up Jammu” sanitation drive was carried out in Ward Numbers 56, 57 and 58.
All the Officers of the Corporation including Joint Commissioner (A), Secretary, Health Officer, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Executive Engineers, Compost-cum-Transport Officer, Chief Khilafwarzi Officers were present and issues related to sanitation of wards, lifting of stray animals, removal of mulba lying on roads side, lanes/bye lanes, maintenance of street lights, repair and remodeling of drains/lanes were discussed.
The participants were informed that the Sanitary Inspectors have been nominated as Nodal Officials in their respective wards who will be responsible for all the services related to the Corporation and will act as an interface for addressing the problems of the citizens.
Commissioner asked all the residents, shopkeepers, vendors and other concerned to pay user charges to the Corporation, which will help in door to door collection of garbage from households and business establishments.
During the drive, polythene weighing 75 kilograms was seized from warehouse and fine of Rs 4,000 was imposed on the defaulters.
